Evi Edna Ogholi - On The Move



Known as the "Queen of Nigerian Reggae," Evi Edna Ogholi recorded her first album in 1989, a light style of reggae with vocals in her native Isoko dialect. She married her producer Emma Oghosi, and there were rumors of domestic abuse .She established herself all over West Africa and received sponsorship from Pepsi for a Nigerian national tour. Word is, she is currently based in France. Here is her debut album.

Styl-Plus - Run Away



The group STYL was formed in 1997 as a gospel quartet by founding members Shifi Emoefe, Tunde Akinsanmi, Yemi Akinwonmi, and Lanre Faneyi. In 1999 Lanre passed away and Zeal Onyecheme joined the group. The name STYL which was formed by combining the first letters of the first names of the founding members then turned to Styl-Plus, the Plus being used to indicate the new addition to the group. In the year 2001, the group expanded from singing strictly gospel songs, to inspirational and love songs. In 2002 Yemi left the group to pursue another career. In 2003 the group teamed up with Anthony 'T-Jazz' Ukpong and Joseph 'Joey' Ukpong to form their own record label; Styl-Plus Music

Lara George - Forever In My Heart



Lara George was born in Lagos, Nigeria as the fourth of five children to Mr. and Mrs. Oluwole Bajomo. She began her musical journey in her alma mater’s school choir “Queens’ College” Yaba, Lagos where she was first given the opportunity to take a lead role in a song. Years later, Lara has transformed into the professional whose inspirational style of delivery has helped define the new sound and direction of Nigerian music. She was also a member of KUSH an urban gospel group in the 90's.

Innocent Ujah Idibia best known as 2Face is a recording artist from Benue State, Nigeria. He was a member of the defunct R&B/hip hop group Plantashun Boyz.He is one of the most internationally recognized celebrity Nigeria has produced in a while now. His popular song “African Queen” was the first ever video to be played on pan African channel MTV Base.

P-Square - Game Over



P-Square is a musical group that consist of identical twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye. The duo began their career miming and dancing in various shows and church events in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. In 2001, while at the University of Abuja, the duo won a talent show competition “Golden Tones - Up & Coming Band” with the track “Kolo” which they eventually featured on their debut album. This quickly shot them into prominence and they soon became household names. Here is their 3rd album Game Over.

Xtasy -E Jé Ka Jo (Let's Dance)



Xtasy was a Nigerian band who only made one album on Ben Murray Bruce's label, Silverbird Records. Ben Murray Bruce needs no introduction in the Nigerian entertainment industry. He brought the likes of Shalamar and the Gap band to Lagos in the 80’s, and who can possibly forget the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant? This group consists of Ben's siblings (I stand to be corrected on this statement, as I was pretty young when this group was on top of the charts)

Ras Kimono - Run Fi Cover



Born in Nigeria, Ras Kimono was bred in the Ghetto. As a youth, he experienced oppression, brutality, hardship and inequality, factors that became a major influence on his philosophy as a man; detesting injustice, corruption, favoritism and discrimination
Together with his Massive Dread Reggae Band, Kimono released his debut album, Under Pressure, in 1989 which included the popular single, "Rum-Bar Stylee". “What's Gwan” his sophomore album proved even more successful, with the topics selected including legalization of marijuana, and the need for Africans to intellectually repel colonialism and its arbitrary boundaries between tribes. Most controversially, he was not averse to naming directly those in power he saw as synonymous with backdoor imperialism.

Ras Kimono now goes around the world, propagating unity among humankind, irrespective of color, creed, religion, race or geographical boundaries. A vegetarian, Kimono is a Rastafarian in the purest form. He is a farmer, fisherman and God-fearing.

Alex Zitto - Walakolombo


Many people may have not heard of the name Alex Zitto, but this is a household name in Nigerian music. As a musician, Alex Zitto has attained legendary status in the Nigerian music industry.

In 1988, Alex Zitto exploded on to the music scene when he won the Lekki Sun's Splash Contest with his hit song "Tickle Me". He then recorded his first album "Tickle Me" on the PolyGram International recording label. This album was an instant hit throughout Nigeria. Alex Zitto released his second album Walakolombo which further entrenched his position as one of the most listened-to and sought-after Nigerian musicians.

Today, Alex Zitto resides in the United States. He is the founder and president of TIYGGI Inc., a state-of-the-art recoding studio. Alex Zitto is currently working on his next project which will be released soon.

Asa - Asa



Asa whose real name is Bukola Elemide was born in 1982 in the city of Paris. Her parents relocated to Lagos Nigeria when she was 2yrs old. She attended Peter King’s Music school where she learnt how to play the guitar in 6 months.
“I was a tomboy and when I was a teenager, I became very shy because people made fun of me…in my own way, I was already attracting attention! I got in the habit of never doing anything like everyone else. People didn’t understand my low-pitched deep voice; the choirs didn’t want anything to do with me. I had to get to church first if I was to have any chance of getting near the mic!”
She is successful thanks to her lyrics which deal with everyday African issues. She is the new singer of soul and has been compared to Tracy Chapman.

Award winning Nigerian Artist 9ice, (born Abolore Akande on the 17th of January) known for his versatility, proverbial lyrics and unique style started his singing and writing career at the age of fourteen. Justifiably tagged “the hit maker”, 9ice conveys with his music, a new ethnic flavor and eclectic style that is uniquely his.

Years of studying the industry and refining his skills, has helped him develop his musical ideology and style. His powerful use of the Yoruba language and his lyrical abilities sets him apart from most artists in his genre and in his opinion is what makes him 9ice. This unique style, evident in all of his song, some of which include his hit song Gongo Aso, Street Credibility, Party Rider, Little Money, Ganja Man, Talent dey waste as well as on collaborations on ‘Ruggedy Baba’ a hit track he did with Nigeria’s Ruggedman, and Le Fenu So, which he did with Lord of Ajasa, often leaves many listeners astonished at the magic of the delivery and the rhythmic harmony.

Wande Coal - Mushin 2 Mohit



Born Wande Ojosipe on the 18th of October 1985, 1st child in a family of 2 children Wande started singing in the teenage choir at his church. He got his break in the Nigerian entertainment industry as a dancer. He continued improving his vocal skills and got signed to Don jazzy’s Mo’ Hits records in 2006. He featured on D’banj’s Rundown/Funk You up album on singles like; Loke, Tonosibe and Why Me.
